Caring for Your Modern Rugged Leather Bag

Your Modern Rugged bag is meant to be used. The leather will soften, crease, and develop character along the way. A little care helps keep it ready for the next day and the next trip.

Wipe Away Everyday Dirt

• Use a soft, dry cloth to remove surface dust and dirt.
• For marks that need more attention, try a lightly dampened cloth on a hidden area first. Wipe gently without soaking the leather.
• Avoid household cleaners, alcohol, and abrasive scrubbing.

For stubborn stains or uncertainty about a particular finish, contact us before applying a cleaning product.

Condition When Needed

The right care depends on the leather’s finish, your climate, and how often you use the bag. Condition when needed rather than following a fixed calendar.

• Choose a conditioner suitable for the leather’s finish and follow its instructions.
• Test a small amount on a hidden area and let it dry before treating the rest of the bag. Conditioners can darken leather or change its finish.
• Apply sparingly. More product does not mean better protection.

Let Wet Leather Dry Naturally

• Blot excess moisture with a soft, dry towel.
• Empty the bag and leave it in a ventilated place to dry naturally.
• Keep it away from hair dryers, radiators, and direct heat. Avoid drying it in strong sunlight.

Avoid soaking the bag. Use a rain cover when you expect prolonged rain.

Store It With Room to Breathe

• Store your bag clean and dry, away from direct sunlight and damp spaces.
• Use a breathable dust bag or clean cotton pillowcase. Avoid sealing leather in plastic.
• Loosely fill it with clean, dry cloth or unprinted paper to support its shape.
• Rest it on a shelf rather than hanging a loaded bag by its handles or strap for long periods.

Natural creases, surface scratches, tonal changes, and patina are part of using leather. You don’t need to keep your bag looking untouched. Care for it so you can keep using it.
